Baseball the Most Exciting Sport

The Excitement Only Baseball Can Provide

If tonight's World Series game between the Cardinals and Rangers reminds us of anything, it is that there is not another sport that can match baseballs excitement. The Cardinals were down to their last strike in the game and both times survived and went on to win the game in the 11th inning on a walk-off homerun by David Freese.

Some will say that football or basketball can provide the same kind of excitement, but in both of those sports time runs out. With 1 second left on the clock there is only so much you can do in football and basketball. In football if a team is down 9 and there is 1 second left on the clock, there is no way that team can comeback and win the game. Or if a basketball team is down 5 with 1 second left on the clock that team has no chance to win the game.

In baseball there is no time limit to end a teams chances of coming back, no matter the deficit, to win the game. Tonight was proof of this once again. The Cardinals were down by two and down to their last strike in the ninth when David Freese hit a two run triple and down by one in the tenth when Lance Berkman hit a single to drive in the tying run. Leading up to David Freese hitting a walk-off homerun in the 11th to win the game.

This season has provided many epic moments like this during this season, including the final day of the season. On the final day of the season the Phillies, Rays, and Orioles won in dramatic fashion eliminating two teams playoff hopes and landing two other in the playoffs including the Cardinals.

This is what makes baseball so special, a team can be down 10 runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, have two outs and still come back and win the game. This is why baseball is and will always be America's Favorite pastime.

Yea! Someone who appreciates the game of baseball! I love it. I love the Cardinals, too. That game you write about was awesome. Incredible, really. Baseball is such an interesting, complex sport. Yes, it can go on forever, but you're right--they never run out of time in which to come back and win! Voted up, useful, interesting, beautiful, and awesome.I'll follow you and plan to read more of your work. Really enjoyed this hub! I'm going to share this with my followers and on my Facebook page, too. I have family and friends who will enjoy this, as well.

Great hub. I usually follow baseball for the first few months and then once football season starts kinda drift away until September comes around and the playoff races are heating up. That was differant this year, maybe because of the NFL Lockout but I followed all summer long and I am glad I did. It was a great season all the way down to tonight's seventh game the World Series. Congrats to the St. Louis Cardinals!

This season has provided a lot of reasons to watch throughout the whole season. Especially the final week and the playoffs. One of the best seasons for baseball I can remembers. It couldn't have come at a better time with the NFL and NBA having lockouts this years.
